Lootshare [Clan Chat]

This week we have added an extra feature to the Clan Chat system: LootShare! By switching this option on, all monster drops and rewards will be fairly shared between the clan members fighting with you. LootShare even remembers if you were unlucky enough to receive nothing in a battle, increasing your chance of being lucky next time!

Because it is based on the existing Clan Chat system, setting up a group is simple. To activate it, turn on the LootShare option on your Clan Chat menu. You can organise yourselves into a LootShare clan beforehand, or you can invite people to join your chat channel in any multiway area. Once organised, you can chat to your friends using the Clan Chat system and work out tactics for defeating any brutish beasties!

The Clan Chat owner can set the minimum rank for anyone wishing to LootShare in a multiway combat area.

After two minutes, LootShare will become activated and you will be included in the sharing of the monster drops. As long as you are within 16 squares of the defeated creature, you will be considered for LootShare!

To get a better understanding of the LootShare system, we advise you to read the Knowledge Base article, here.

Summary

Ability to share monster drops and rewards with your clan
Fair and even LootShare in multiway areas
Just turn 'LootShare' on in your Clan Chat menu!

In other news...

The ring of life has had its behaviour slightly modified. It will now remove any poison that you may have been affected with as well as its usual effects.

A few seagulls on Karamja were getting a bit stuck. They can once more fly freely around this lush area.

The Hunter pitfall trap has had some tweaking to fix a graphical problem for certain camera angles. Also, the gnome scarf and the Fletching Cape of Accomplishment have been altered to fix render issues.

White knights have been re-trained to hold swords correctly and not hit themselves on their heads!

The ambient sounds of magic trees have been somewhat toned down and adjusted so the result is a less intrusive and more pleasant magical jingle.

A change has been made to the mechanics when a player is killed by a monster. Your items will remain on the ground only visible to you for one minute should you wish to run back to recover them. After that, anyone nearby will be able to see them. Previously, if a player died to a monster the items were appearing instantly for everyone.

Back to my Roots

9 October 2007 - Back to my Roots quest
Horacio has his heart set on some improvements to his master's already meticulous garden this week. Rather than filling it up with flowers, a patio and some crazy paving, Horacio is after one of the rarest plants on RuneScape.

Rarity may not be the biggest problem, however, as this plant requires all your skill, cunning and a hefty stack of Woodcutting and Agility. Plant hunters beware; this plant bites back, so no ordinary gardener can waltz in with some clippers. It seems some Slayer knowledge could help with this Master quest.

Helping Horacio overcome this vine-based task may well prove handy in other areas. Aside from a great reward, Horacio may have a need for a master pruner.

Summary

Where to start Back to my Roots
Speak to Horacio outside Lord Handelmort's mansion, in East Ardougne.

Requirements to complete Back to my Roots
Fairy Tale part 1
Hand in the Sand
One Small Favour
Tribal Totem
Level 55 Agility
Level 53 Farming
Level 59 Slayer
Level 72 Woodcutting
Must be able to defeat a level 167 foe.

Access to
A new maze, slightly larger than Draynor Manor
8 new creatures
Farming patch
Transportation between Eagle's Peak and Karamja
Tears of Guthix-style repeatable reward for two skills
Papaya seeds as a monster drop

We have increased the number of ways you can acquire battlestaves, as promised. Baba Yaga's shop on Lunar Isle now has a larger stock, the cost of battlestaves in the Mage Training Arena shop has been significantly decreased and, not to be outdone, Zaff now receives a daily stock. To acquire them, chat to Zaff himself or right-click 'Buy Battlestaff'. The number available to you depends on your level of achievement in the Varrock diary, and whether you are wearing the correct Varrock armour. To find out how many staves you can buy, visit this article.

Arhein is responding to the changes in demand for pineapples and seaweed by adopting a similar approach to Zaff. He can now sell each player a limited number of these items every day. Speak to him (instead of using his quick-trade option) if you're interested.

The rock crabs east of Rellekka will frequently drop seaweed in the form of banknotes, making them a more convenient source of this prized commodity. Players may also burn kelp on a range or fire to get soda ash (kelp is found in the underwater area, accessed during Recipe for Disaster).

There have been some adjustments to the prices of various other items in shops. In particular, the TzHaar rune merchant's offer-price for buying chaos and death runes off players has been adjusted so that they are no longer affected by the number of runes in the Player Stock section of his shop. Aside from this, the shop price for steel throwing knives has been raised in order to avoid undercutting player prices.

It is no longer possible to use prayers in Glarial's tomb near the Baxtorian Falls of Kandarin. The unusually large moss giants were already capable of damaging players here, regardless of the Protect from Melee prayer, so this isn't going to make a huge difference to their threat. Do be careful when you venture in there!

A sapling designed for net-trapping red salamanders near the Ourania Altar had become unavailable due to a recent mapping bug. It's now been fixed, so you can go trapping there again.

Finally, we've added a right-click option to the gardeners who stand near Farming patches so that you don't have to go through so much chat when you're paying them to protect your crops.

Our Forums!!!

We finally have forums which can be located http://z7.invisionfree.com/My_Runescape/index.php?act=idx

21 June 2007 - Development Diary: Graphics Team

21 June 2007 - Development Diary: Graphics Team
Due to the excellent response we received from the first diary, we thought you'd enjoy another Development Diary sooner rather than later. This second diary centres around our Graphics team and the work they've been doing on improving the monsters of RuneScape.

As the first diary showed, creating content can take a while, and that is true of content on the website and the Development Diaries themselves, so from now on we'll be aiming to release new diaries every two months.

We hope you enjoy the Graphics team's diary!

18 June 2007 - Guaranteed Content poll - Halloween

18 June 2007 - Guaranteed Content poll - Halloween
Two weeks ago, we added a thread in the Suggestions Forum for Halloween 2007 ideas. Many of you posted, coming up with some ghoulish ones.

We have gathered these ideas, grouped some of our favourites together, and produced options for our second Guaranteed Content poll. Thanks go to the many of you who posted.

You may notice that all of the themes mention the Grim Reaper in some way, which was down to the sheer number of suggestions that involved him. He is obviously popular!

So pick carefully, as the winning votes will be made into this year's Halloween event. We may even include some surprises to keep you on your toes. Visit the poll system to cast your vote!

Although there have been two Guaranteed Content polls recently, they will not be released this frequently. It happened to be that two subjects suitable for this kind of poll came up at once.

The Dark Bow

11 June 2007 - The Dark Bow
A new bow has made its way to RuneScape from the shadowy dimension of the dark beasts. These dark bows are strange and dangerous weapons, designed to shoot two arrows at a time, even with the most powerful arrows. Its mysterious special attack deals massive damage, which is even more powerful if you use it with dragon arrows.

Dark bows can only be obtained from the dark beasts that lurk along the path to the Light Temple. Although it requires a level 90 Slayer to take on a dark beast, level 60 rangers can use these tradeable dark bows. The dark bow is also the only bow that can fire dragon arrows!

You also now have access to a new cavern where eight more dark beasts lurk, just at the start of the Light Temple path.

Summary

Requirements to use the dark bow

Level 60 Ranged

Requirements to kill dark beasts

Started Mourning's Ends Part II
Level 90 Slayer

In other news...

H.A.M. clothing has been added to the items players can store in the armour case in their costume room. Players can now deposit their selection of H.A.M. clothes to free up some bank space.

Players can now see when they have achieved the maximum Kudos from helping out at the Varrock Museum.

The Fountain of Heroes in the Heroes' Guild will no longer recharge amulets of glory in their noted form.

Players can now move compost into all empty buckets in their inventory if they have sufficient compost in the bin. This is to allow players to more easily extract the compost for their Farming needs.

Players who've achieved a high enough Magic level to cast Ice Barrage from the Ancient Magick Spellbook will be interested to know that we've fixed the requirements for casting to allow for combination runes. All other Ancient Magick spells already allow players to use combination runes, but it seems this one was missed off.

Players who are short on inventory or bank space can now drop wound up toy mice on free worlds. Prior to this, players could only drop the unwound version.
